Det Shield
Our country’s future as the most powerful nation in the world depends on its leaders. The United States Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) helps support that role by preparing young men and women for some of this country’s most important leadership roles. The military knowledge of our active duty cadre members combined with the cadet’s desire for a challenging career make a great combination. Quite simply, we provide the best training available to anyone in our country to a select group of students attending Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, Western Michigan University, and Central Michigan University to assume positions of increasing responsibility in today’s high-tech Air Force environment. We need young officers to tackle a myriad of some of the most challenging, exciting, and rewarding jobs available to college graduates today. Whether you want to fly the best aircraft in the world, operate complex computers, work in research and development, or fill requirements in numerous other career fields, we have something for anyone interested in serving their country. In addition, we also offer scholarships to help qualified students complete their bachelor’s degree. Just contact us to find out more. We’ve been waiting for you!

About ROTC

The US Air Force was created as a separate military service on September 18, 1947 by the National Security Act of 1947. Det 380 was established soon after as one of the first detachments in the nation. Since 1959, our detachment alone has produced over 980 officers. Although we have made many improvements over the years, the basic Air Force ROTC mission has changed very little. We still recruit, educate, and prepare college students to be Air Force officers. Each year we continue to provide opportunities for thousands of college graduates.
